12 Days of Giveaways #11: ‘Travelling In the Raw’ ebook

December 21, 2011

The winner of Monday’s Bella Bar giveaway is
Shannon Marie of Rawdorable!
Please email your mailing info to
almostveganchef AT gmail DOT com
within 48 hours. CONGRATS!

Today’s giveaway is brought to you by one of my favorite chefs and bloggers (and a fellow Matthew Kenney Academy alumna), Robyn Law of Girl On Raw.

I am overjoyed to introduce you to Robyn’s newest ebook, Travelling In the Raw!

Having been a flight attendant for 9 years, Robyn has done an unbelievable (and enviable) amount of traveling, so no one is better suited to author a book like this than she is!

Robyn’s 49-page book will teach you…

◈ How to eat sensibly while traveling, whether you’re 100% raw, high-raw, or just want to improve your holiday diet
◈ What equipment you should pack
◈ Where to connect with other raw foodies on your travels
◈ How to research restaurants and eateries for your trip abroad
◈ Checklists, resources, and other helpful lists
◈ Delicious recipes to make both before your departure and on the road
◈ Other helpful tips and tricks discovered over 9 years of travel experience

The book’s 22 travel-friendly recipes are comprised of several created by Robyn herself, plus over a dozen recipes crafted by some of the raw food world’s best (and my favorite!) chefs and bloggers, including…

Date-Coconut-Cashew Treats by Hannah of Wayfaring Chocolate (shown above)
Chocolate-Almond Buckwheat Granola by Jen of The Robertsons of Mumbai
Garden Guacamole and Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto by Kristen of Kristen’s Raw
Avocado and Lime Soup by Russell James, The Raw Chef
Sunny Cashew-Apricot Energy Cookies by yours truly (shown below)!

Robyn is currently selling Travelling In the Raw for a mega-discounted, limited-time price of $5, so if you’d like to go ahead and purchase your own copy, click here! If, however, you’d like to try to win a free copy first, read on…

Robyn is such a great Raw Food chef! And your Sunny Cashew-Apricot Energy Cookies look divine! My favorite food related travel tip… I usually scope out the restaurants in advance via iPhone Yelp app or Google. And I make sure to bring granola bars or fruit or fruit snacks with me on the plane.

I always take a lot of fruit and energy bars for long flights. If you are really lucky you can order raw vegan meals or a fruit platter but not many airlines do this anymore.

  28. December 21, 2011 12:59 pm

I always bring some healthy food with me! You never know what you’ll find when traveling, so having a few of my favorites on hand (raw almonds, organic cucumbers, avocado, lemons) help keep me satisfied.

My favorite thing to do while traveling is to bring green powders and chorella tablets with me. That way I can always be assured I’m getting something nutritious. Also, it really helps if you bring along a yummy herbal tea in your thermos or water bottle. That way, when everyone around you is drinking the high fat high sugar coffee drinks at the rest areas, you won’t feel as deprived, knowing you have a delicious drink in the car that’s good for you too!

This has honestly made me sparkle, because my photography skills are so horrendous that I’m generally grateful if I manage to take any that are even mildly clear and okay to put on the blog. (Let’s not talk about how I’ve even stopped trying for Tastespotting.) Thank you!! 🙂

I don’t travel much, but I do spent a lot of time on the road just getting from here to there, so my tips for that are to plan ahead and pack your own food. I never go anywhere without food in my bag, and for longer jaunts, even if it’s just shopping out of town, I pack a soft side cooler. My go-tos are: energy bars (store bought or homemade), fresh fruit that’s washed and/or cut, dried fruit, nuts, veggies that are ready to go, dip, nut butter, etc. My husband makes fun of me for packing so much food, but he ends up eating it too, so ha ha! I also pack tons of water; I hate not having water on the road (and tissues, but that’s for a different post).

  55. December 22, 2011 4:48 pm
