Vlog: an exclusive look inside Practically Raw!

March 1, 2012

Good evening, everyone! I have a very quick post for you tonight; Matt and I are still in San Francisco and are about to head out for a nice dinner (guess where?!), but first, I just HAD to tell you…

Today I received my first copy of my cookbook, Practically Raw: Flexible Raw Recipes Anyone Can Make! Hot off the presses! My editor sent it to me here in SF and I just opened it…oh my goodness. It’s real. I have a cookbook! AAAHH!

I filmed a short “vlog” (video blog) to give you guys an exclusive first look inside the book. I’m not really great at being on film, so please bear with me and my awkwardness here…also, I hope you can hear me ok in the video; I apologize for not speaking louder! I’ll do better next time. 😉

Enjoy!

EDIT: I was informed on Friday that Practically Raw is now officially in stock at Amazon.com, and copies are already shipping!!  2 weeks early! YAY!

I got an email from Amazon overnight and it said that it will arrive to me on the 6th. I’m flying on the 4th so it will absolutely be waiting for me when I return (insert happy dance here)

Congrats!!! We preordered the book and are looking forward to getting it too!! Now that we conquered Vegan we want to try raw!! Your cookbook will be one of our first raw cookbooks!! Thanks!! Hey on that note is Almond and soy milk you buy at the store considered raw?

    • March 2, 2012 9:56 am

Thanks Amelia! I’m so proud of you guys!
Storebought almond milks aren’t raw (and soymilk is never raw), but DEFINITELY don’t feel bad about using a good-quality storebought almond milk in my recipes. I always suggest it as a substitution option!

Thanks so much!! Hey I also wanted to ask you…I got the chance to try the chocolate/coconut raw brownies you took for New Year’s Eve at Chris’s… Is that in your recipe book and if not can I get it from you. That was super delish!!! Also why is bought soy milk considered worse to get than bought Almond milk. Just curious. Thanks again!! Got a note last night from Amazon saying the cookbook will get to us by the 7th or 8th!! Yeah!!!

Yes, the Caramel-Fudge Brownies recipe is in the book!
Basically, the jury is still out on the health benefits of soy as a whole, but I don’t think small amounts are bad for you. I just prefer almond milk over soy for a variety of reasons.

Yippie! This is so exciting. I’m a huge fan of cookbooks with pictures, mainly because I usually just look at the pictures and rarely make the recipes. Not only do your recipes looks delicious, but I could see myself making the recipes from your book. Very cool!

You did it! I hope you enjoyed celebrating with Matt (possibly at Millennium?). You should be very proud of what you’ve created.

Well, I most certainly watched the whole thing through, and am proud to admit I was smiling and laughing out loud the whole time (looking rather like a fool; let’s be honest) at how (rightly) proud and delighted you are, and how proud and delighted I am that it’s all so very, very real and wonderful and HUGS LADY! Love you love you! Also… pistachio and fig cheese and tapenade? Oh holy yes.

P.S. You’re shining. On so many levels.
P.P.S. I’m feeling a little less crushed by the world right now so will email you back soon! xoxo
